Hi, my girlfriend is an ex-ballerina and has always wanted to go to the Bolshoi Ballet. I was thinking of buying her tickets but I want her to see the best performance possible and also I want it to be a surprise. I looked at their current Schedule of Performances but I don't know anything when it comes to ballet. I need your help! So my questions; 1 - Is there a show that's on every year that is famous? Swan Lake? Nutcracker? excuse my lack of knowledge) 2 - Is there a certain choreographer/director that I should be looking for? 3 - This might be a Christmas present, so is there anything famous/good in January/February/March? I recently fell in love with the [Royal Ballet's. I think the Nutcracker Prince is SO CUTE! In this version. It made me want to look around and discover how well this production held up to others. As a child, I would watch [this version. all the time. I've heard that this has the original staging of the ballet? Or at least, the one that made it so popular. I'm trying to stay away from the [San Francisco Ballet's production. because I REALLY hope to see it one day. I live around the bay area. I just haven't talked anyone into going with me, yet. I've heard that [Baryshnikov's. is very good. I'm very excited because I am going to see him dance at the Berkeley Rep on Valentine's Day. I keep hearing the [Bolshoi production. is good, but I never hear more than that. Are there any that I am missing? Any links to videos? Advice? Opinions? I've recently began obsessing over ballet. The costumes and the music and the dancing and the setting omg it's so perfect. Absolutely sumptuous like a real fairytale. Gorgeous and glamorous show. The one suggestion I have to make this compilation exceptional would be to note each dancer's start times. This vid was a jewel. Thank you for sharing. The Nutcracker is a masterpiece of orchestration. This becomes more evident when there is no dance distracting the mind from pure musical greatness of this work. Casse-noisette chanson.
