The English-subtitled screening will celebrate the Gundam franchise's 40th anniversary. The screening will feature an exclusive interview with franchise creator Yoshiyuki Tomino, as well as content from this year's Anime NYC. Fathom Events describes the film's story: Amuro and Char, two best mobile suit pilots who fought together against Titans after the Jion's independency war, must face each other in a fateful duel where the Char-led Neo-Jion, attempt to drop a gigantic meteor and nuclear weapons on Earth in order to cause Nuclear Winter to wipe out its inhabitants. The film debuted in Japan in 1988 as an adaptation of Tomino's Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack - High Streamer novel. The film is set in the Universal Century timeline, and it was the first original feature-length theatrical release for the franchise. The anime was the franchise's first to include a computer-generated animation sequence. Bandai Entertainment first released the film on DVD in North America in 2002, and Right Stuf released the film on Blu-ray Disc in 2016. Tomino's Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack Beltorchika's Children novel, an alternate retelling of the story debuted in February 1988 and inspired an anime film in March 1988. MAN WHAT A RIDE. I didnt expect to like this anime as much as I did, but it was so lighthearted and fun. Yes it's geared more towards children but EVERYTHING was done right, from the battle animations, characters, world, and story. Regular Gundam series have gone bland and stale so this was a totally fresh and new take on the typical Earth humans vs Outer space human sci-fi political space mecha war of the worlds scenario. It was so cool seeing Gundams all across the series and fresh remodels of old fan favorites. If you're on the fence about this, DEFINITELY give it a shot. What a beautiful song. Thank you for uploading this, and here's for 40 more years and beyond of Gundam.
